Policies and information
Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy governing participation in, or access to, ICSE Zimbabwe's website and services.
Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how ICSE Zimbabwe collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal information received through its website, registration questionnaires, membership applications, enquiries and business case submissions. It applies to visitors, registered users, prospective members, partners and individuals whose information is provided as part of an authorised organisational enquiry.
The national website is responsible for its own member and case information. The ICSE Africa continental website and other national chapters operate their own websites and privacy practices.
Information we collect
We may collect your name, email address, telephone number, age confirmation, gender response where provided, address, province, locality, business and organisational details, areas of expertise, work and business interests, business stage, descriptions of property and productive assets, business ideas, resources, mobility and indicative investment capacity.
We also process applications, service enquiries, correspondence, account identifiers, authentication records, membership categories, approval and payment-verification references, business cases, administrative decisions and operational audit information. Technical data such as browser information, device identifiers and security logs may be generated when you use the website.
How we use information
We use the information to establish and maintain accounts, receive and evaluate applications, classify business skills and opportunities, respond to correspondence, facilitate authorised business development, assess potential commercial matches, manage payments confirmed outside the website, maintain case and decision records and operate and secure the platform.
Providing a stated investment range is voluntary and does not create an investment commitment. We do not promise finance, contracts or investment as a result of any registration.
Legal grounds and sensitive information
We process personal information on the basis permitted by applicable law, which may include your consent, steps necessary to respond to requests or provide services, our legitimate and lawful operational interests and compliance with legal obligations. Where separate consent is legally required, we will seek it.
Information such as religious affiliation, financial circumstances or other sensitive details may attract additional legal protections. Do not include sensitive personal or third-party information unless relevant and you are authorised to share it.
Who can access information
Member accounts are private. Authorised operational personnel may access the information they need to review applications, manage accounts, process cases and maintain records. Separate commercial counterparties, advisers or network entities receive identifiable submission material only where there is a lawful basis, an appropriate authorisation or a separate written arrangement.
Service providers may process limited data on our behalf for cloud hosting, authentication, website administration, communications or technical maintenance. They must handle information in accordance with applicable contractual and legal safeguards. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect rights and safety.
International transfers
Some technical providers or authorised partners may operate outside Zimbabwe. Where data is transferred internationally, applicable legal requirements and reasonable safeguards apply. Participation in the ICSE continental network does not mean that all national databases are combined or that members' records are automatically accessible to other chapters.
Security and account safety
We use access restrictions and technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the information. No online transmission or storage method is free of risk. Keep your account credentials private, use strong passwords and report suspected unauthorised access promptly.
Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes described above, to resolve disputes, manage contractual relationships, document decisions, meet applicable legal obligations or protect legitimate rights. Periods may vary by record type. When no longer required, information is securely deleted, anonymised or otherwise handled according to applicable law.
Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable legal exceptions, you may request information about personal data held about you, seek access or correction, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing depends on it and request restriction or deletion where the law allows. Some records must be retained for legal, audit or legitimate dispute purposes.
For privacy requests, contact the published email address and describe your request. We may need to verify identity before disclosing or altering account records. You may also contact the competent national data protection authority where you believe your rights have not been respected.
Legal framework and updates
This policy is intended to be interpreted consistently with Cyber and Data Protection Act, 2021 and any other privacy rules that apply to our activities. It does not diminish statutory rights. We may amend this policy when our services or legal requirements change. The most current version will appear on this website.
